PIERRE RICHARD, LE VERNOIS JURA OXI CHARDONNAY

Jura is known for its unconventional wine making techniques especially in its Vin Jaune wines (yellow wines). They were early adopters of a minimal intervention approach and are known for oxidative wines.

Pierre Richard's wines, now created by his son Vincent employ unusual techniques to create outstanding wines that are typical of Jura. In this chardonnay he employs a method called Sous- Veille which literary means under a veil, where the wine is placed in containers that are filled 3/4. A small flor (yeast like cover) is allowed to form creating an environment for some oxidation to occur (much the same as Sherry production). The result is an intense and delicious chardonnay that is clean and intense. Mostly tropical and apple notes come through with a perfect balance of acidity.
